Music of our Lives.... Revisited!

Okay, so let's have a debate. 1977 could very well be the best year in terms of the release of music ever! Here is my list of the ten best albums from that year (not in any particular order). Don't think I'm right? Come on... prove me wrong!!

Steely Dan “Aja”- Contains one of my favorite Steely Dan tunes... “Peg”

Jimmy Buffet “Changes in L attitude, Changes in Attitude” - Over the last 15 years the title song has meant more to me with each passing year.

Meat Loaf “B...

THE Day...

It was Tuesday, June 7, 1977.  My mom made me press my robe before I left for the school but I really didn't mind.  I was excited and nervous... and so very happy to finally be finished with high school.  We were the first class to be graduating on the football field.

I really don't remember where all of the classes before us graduated but I do remember that evening... lining up in the hall way that led across the breezeway to the gym.  We were all lined up in alphabetical order exce...

The Pinnacle of Fine Dining....

Of all the times I was at the Circle Drive In on Hughes Blvd. there is only one time that I can ever remember going inside the place… and that was to use their facilities.  I may have gone in there on other occasions but with a lot of things associated with the Circle, it’s all a little fuzzy.

I have no idea what the food was like there but there were a ton of locally owned places that to this day I still think were some of the best I ever ate at… here is my list… and please at you...

Buses, Cars and Parking Lots...

I remember the first day I went to Northeastern.  I rode in on bus 32.  That old faithful bus I have been acquainted with for years.  I also remember having to hang around late that afternoon to catch bus 32 back home.  I didn’t realize at the time that it ran double routes and was dropping off elementary school kids before it came to get us.  I have to be honest… I really didn’t like riding the bus.  I’m not sure what it was about it but it just wasn’t that much fun after we got...

Waiting on the Bell....

Hanging out before school started was a great way to start the day.  It was a way that a bunch of blurry eyed teenagers could ease into the flow of things.  It all depended on who you were and how you got there as to where it was you hung out too.

It seems like all the band people would congregate at the band room… and all the shop guys would gather around the shop area… you remember back where Mr. Dunlow’s room was located.  Then there were the smokers.  Those cool kids that reg...

A good show... and a great song!

We are the first generation that really grew up with TV being a prominent thing in our lives. Those mornings with Captain Kangaroo and Miss Connie on Romper Room... and then we grew older... and the shows of the 70's were the best! Here is a list of some of them: WKRP, Good Times, Sanford and Son, All in the Family, The Rockford Files, Welcome Back Kotter, Happy Days, The Jeffersons, Mash, Maude, Laverne and Shirley, The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

I'm sure there are a bunch more that are...

Honey Buns, styrofoam cups, rubber bands and ....

It was all about a honey bun.... I have no idea how the story started.... or what happened to the honey bun. But someone did something with Coach Winslow's honey bun. Seems like Coach Piscorik was involved some how but I don't remember that part. I just remember the lengthy lecture the track team got about the missing honey bun... as Coach said... “this is wery wery serious..” as he rolled his eyes and looked away as he always did.

And there were the styrofoam cups on Mr. Gray's wall....

Club Day

It seemed to me that there was a club for just about everything you could possibly think of when we were in high school. Some of them seemed to just be a support mechanism for the classes we took like the French and Spanish Clubs. Others seem to be more more career focused like Science Club. I have trouble keeping so many of them straight like VICA and FBLA.. and there were clubs for farming and clubs for health care worker and home makers... pretty much anything you can imagine.

I kn...

The older I get....

We were so fortunate to have great sports teams when we were in high school. A lot is said about the football team and those games but the men's and woman’s basketball teams were very good also. As was the wrestling team too. It was great going to the basketball games... usually there would be a woman’s game, the junior varsity game and the varsity game all in the same night. I remember getting there early and staying through them all. It would get pretty warm in that gym some nights bu...
